Leadium Director Sharon Longridge speaking at ATO Finance conference

The Recharge with ATO Finance

Jul 20, 2022

Leadium partners with the finance team at the Australian Taxation Office to boost the wellness of their senior leaders through The Recharge, a new style of wellness program.

This week, Leadium Director, Sharon Longridge, was the keynote speaker at the ATO Finance's Executive Leaders Conference in Canberra. An initiative of CFO, Janine Bristow, the conference bought together over 80 leaders.

Managing Industry 4.0

Sharon spoke about the growing pressures facing leaders as we move at high-speed into the Fourth Industrial Revolution or Industry 4.0. These include hybrid working adaptation, the rise of the 'feeling economy' and the need to signal steadiness in the face of change and uncertainty. She also acknowledged that many leaders are depleted and exhausted after the last two tumultuous years.

Harness the science of mindful micro-breaks

Always the bringer of good news, Sharon invited the group to be part of The Recharge. This new style of workplace wellness program is anchored in the evidence, focused on energy management and based on micro-breaks. The Recharge digital portal features twelve powerful mind performance tools that build composure, focus and confidence.

5 minute mental fitness practice

With most practices just five minutes long, they strengthen the mental fitness of time-poor professionals. This offering builds on a decade of designing health and productivity programs and working with diverse leaders to elevate their performance.

Take Breaks. Work Better.

Spanning six months, The Recharge encourages busy professionals to take daily mindful micro-breaks. The evidence confirms that:

  • Short breaks after focused work improve energy, concentration and reduce injuries.
  • Relaxation techniques like mindfulness reduce feelings of overwhelm and fatigue.
  • Mindfulness reduces depression and anxiety. It is a powerful antidote to stress.

Prioritising wellness works

Over the last decade, researchers have shown that people with higher levels of wellbeing are more sociable and energetic, more charitable and cooperative, and are better liked by others. They show more flexibility and ingenuity in their thinking and are more resilient and productive in their jobs. They also lead better.

Business benefits

Prioritising wellness is a strategic imperative for most organisations. Fostering a healthy workplace makes good sense and the business case is compelling:

  • Increased productivity and staff motivation
  • Reduced absenteeism and presenteeism
  • Attracting and retaining high-quality employees
  • Lower staff turnover
  • Reduced workplace compensation claims

Everybody benefits

Every workplace has a legal responsibility to provide a safe and healthy workplace. Fortunately, everyone is the beneficiary when you build a positive, healthy workplace culture
